Kay the cassowary is a very life like bird plush toy! The cassowary name comes from two blended Papuan words, 'kasu' meaning horned, and 'weri' meaning head. The weri is the top of the head, called a casque.

Driving through their territory, we need to slow down to reduce the number of cassowaries being hit by cars. If you see one or even a family, stay in your car, you don't want to get close to them at all because these birds have attitude and are known to hurt cars, animals and people, sometimes fatally if provoked.
The cassowary is endangered and is the second-heaviest and third-tallest bird in the world. Only the ostrich and emu are bigger!
